Introduction

This is important!! I categorically do NOT believe in Alternative therapy, what I do is complementary therapy, it is not practiced in place of conventional medicine, but along side of it!

My name is Andrew Shutt and have been a Sports Therapist since 1995. I have run a successful practice using Physical Therapy at the Widnes Holistic Centre since it opened in Oct. 1996.

Since March 2006 I have been treating Curzon Ashton FC's team on their premises (Ashton-U-Lyne) where I also treat the general public, as well as "sporty" people. I also on occasions treat at the renowned Komyokan Dojo in Birkenhead (Further details can be obtained from me by calling the Ashton phone number).  My clientele vary from the young who have had injuries, to pensioners, and from people who are unable to work to the professional Sportsperson. I treat all sorts of sports injuries, but maybe you think that because you do not play sports, I cannot help you. So let me explain what the definition of sports injuries are.

Sports injuries are any sort of injury which normally would be incurred playing sports, self explanatory really! But a sprained ankle slipping down the stairs is the same as one received on the football field. Also I'm sure you know somebody who has been diagnosed as having tennis elbow when they don't play tennis! So if you have any sort of injury I'm sure I can be of help!

Another important thing to take into consideration is that "I" will be treating you , and will not pass you on to somebody else for the treatment, as a lot of other practitioners do after the initial consultation!!

I use various methods to treat injuries such as ultra sound, laser, farradic, cupping, Power Assisted Micro Manipulation and massage etc. These are determined during the initial consultation, but are reviewed with each visit depending on the improvement of your condition.

Each person is treated "holistically" which means I treat the cause of the problem and not just the sympton. eg. Tennis elbow, can be referred pain from a shoulder injury, therefore I would treat the shoulder to sort out the elbow!

I may also recommend exercises/stretches which will benefit when you are at home, and on occasions will teach you how to treat yourself at home where possible.
